Anna Martin, PT

Therapist

Hello! My name is Anna, and I am happy to have the opportunity to be one of the Physical Therapists at Orthopaedics Plus. I believe personalized care starts with building a trusting relationship between therapist and patient. I hope that by learning a little more about me and my journey to becoming a PT, you may feel more comfortable and confident starting your own physical therapy journey here. Growing up, science was always one of my favorite subjects in school. In middle school, I became more interested in human anatomy and was convinced – after watching more than a few too many after school episodes of “Bones” on tv – that being a crime fighting forensic anthropologist who used her anatomical knowledge for the greater good sounded like a pretty cool job. I quickly realized that the field of forensic anthropology involved way more study of history (my least favorite subject in school) than I ever wanted to pursue and changed my mind. Luckily for me, around that same time in my life I had my first exposure to physical therapy that many other PTs have had – I became a patient. Though not so lucky to have injured my knee, participating in PT at a young age provided me with the knowledge that another career option existed which would allow me to pursue my scientific interests while helping others.
I went on to complete an accelerated undergraduate and doctoral degree program at Boston University, graduating with my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2017. Throughout my various school clinical experiences, I was always most interested in outpatient orthopedic and sports physical therapy, with a soft spot for pediatrics. This led me to complete a yearlong fellowship at the Institute of Manual Therapy (IOMT) in Woburn, MA, in 2019 to deepen my skills and expertise. As a PT, I value connecting with my patients on a personal level and helping to reduce the uncertainty that often surrounds pain & injury through education. It is also my sincere hope that the educational tools I provide for my patients are helpful long term and will reduce their need to see me again in the future – unless it is to stop by and say hello!
Outside of work, I can be found indulging in my Sunday morning chai & croissant, reading fantasy fiction (the longer the book the better) while snuggling with my cat Drax, baking, and trying to practice what I preach by staying active through exercise. I can also be found dreaming about learning to sew, crochet, draw, make pottery, or any other number of other artistic pursuits if I were able to choose where to start first.
