Alicia Saltz, PT, DPT, PF1

Therapist

Hi everyone,
I’m Alicia! My interest in the physical therapy profession began at age 16 while binge watching the popular TV show Breaking Bad. If you’re a fan, you might remember when Hank’s character receives PT at home after recovering from a gunshot wound. In that episode, I remember the PT getting so excited about Hank’s ability to take a few steps, and it’s one of the brief moments in that season where he shows positivity while dealing with his recovery. I knew I wanted to pursue a career in health care, but was so drawn to PT because of the ability to see a patient grow throughout the journey.

As I worked in clinics in college, I got to see firsthand how much of a difference PTs were able to make and I knew this was the career for me. I received my bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 2020 and had the interesting experience of starting grad school mid-covid at Boston University later that summer. What I loved about BU was the focus their curriculum put on the patient-provider relationship, emphasizing that being able to connect with your patients is one of the most important skills of a quality PT. As a student, I was fortunate to complete a clinical experience here at OP and could easily see the value of the patient-therapist relationship emphasized in the care the PTs provided. I graduated with my DPT from BU in 2023 and am so excited to return and become part of such a welcoming and skilled group of clinicians.

When I’m not in the clinic, I like to stay active with running, hiking, and swimming. In the winter months I can be found most weekends skiing in Vermont with my boyfriend and enjoying a local craft beer between runs. I enjoy following hockey, and am a dedicated Pittsburgh Penguins fan, so you won’t often catch me rooting on the Bruins. I’m originally from Pennsylvania, so I like exploring new spots in New England and am always open to suggestions on the best places to visit. I also love a cozy day indoors sipping a new coffee blend, building puzzles, and baking treats to share with others in the office.
